GRAZIA.IT - Blogger We Want You!

"Mattei", my surname, plagues me due to a distant presumed ancestor named Enrico. "Giulia", my name, is common enough to balance it out.
I was born on December 8, 1992, I was brought up and I still live in a town near there. I've always dreamt of becoming a fashion designer, so I registered at a fashion school. In this school, I learnt how a collection is made, from the sketch to the garment. After I got the high school diploma in 2011, I also decided to explore "theoretical" aspects of fashion before orienting myself towards a specific job in this field. I'm a second year student in "Fashion cultures and techniques".  So far I've found this course very fascinating and stimulating, so I decided to start this blog to share what I'm learning and to let my readers understand what fashion means to me.
Fashion is not my only passion, I love art, architecture, music, literature, reading, poetry, culture, and beauty in all its forms.
The Grazia sections that I follow the most are IT FASHIONIT SFILATEIT BEAUTY, and IT NEWS.
I'd love to become a Grazia IT blogger because I think both the site and magazine are well-made, and because it's the first one I started reading after I learnt how to read. Since then, every Sunday reading Grazia with my mom, aunt, and granma is a ritual that can't be renounced. What I love most of Grazia are the amazing photo shoots because they are modern even when they are retro-inspired.

A great mascara for contact lenses wearers

Initially I was searching for the perfect volumizing mascara, when I thought I had to find one which suited me as a contact lenses wearer. It shouldn't had fallen out, it shouldn't had sticked my lashes together, it shouldn't had made my eyes burn, it should had been volumizing, and not that lengthening because I have long lashes. I watched loads of reviews on YouTube, especially those about the famous "The Falsies" by Maybelline, but I heard many positive comments on "The Colossal" too.
-

On the back of the packaging I read it was suitable for contact lenses so I bought it. It's true, although I was searching for a volumizing mascara and this is not the best one I've ever tried (if you curl your lashes before applying it, it's perfect though).
When we apply mascara we often happen to have it also on the upper rim of the eye. When The Colossal's wand reaches it, it doesn't burn at all. We could cry for hours, it wouldn't burn. It doesn't fall out, it doesn't stick my lashes together, it volumizes but - as I've already said, if you don't curl your lashes - it's not as great as it claims to be, it lengthens, and it's really black. It's a really good mascara.
Have you ever tried it? Do you wear contact lens? Which mascara do you use?
-

How To Avoid Muffin Tops

"Muffin-top" is a generally pejorative slang term used to describe the phenomenon of overhanging fat when it spills over the waistline of pants or skirts in a manner that resembles the top of a muffin spilling over its paper casing, says Wikipedia.
Here are some tips to prevent it.
-

1. Haute Hippie   2. Topshop

1. Cover up the problematic area in a cute way, there's no need to lose our femininity when we have to cover parts of your body. Wear flowy and cute tops like these one above. The first one also has a gathered panel which is great to add volume to your breast if you need to, and the blue vest has a black lace detail on the back.
-
Indossate top carini e svolazzanti come questi sopra.

1. River Island  2. Alice and Olivia  3. Halston Heritage  4. Nasty Gal  5. River Island  6. H&M  7. Dolce & Gabbana

2. Accentuate you waistline! It's always good to cinch the waistline to give our body an hourglass shape, but this time is fundamental.
1 - Peplum tops are big this season, and they are perfect if they are not so voluminous on the hip area and if your tummy is not so flat.
2 - The printed blouse accentuates your waistline, its V- neckline elongates the neck, and it's a great choice if your breast is small.
3 - The blue dress has a fitted bodice, and a soft skirt to cover the hips. The waistline is located a little bit higher than the natural one, so it also elongates the legs.
4 - 5 This purple skirt is the best thing if your hips are not that large, while the black skirt is a better choice if you have larger hips, because you can match it with a loose blouse  to cover them without adding volume. Remember: if you wear something flowy on top, make sure that what you wear on bottom is tighter.
6 - This dress is also suited for those girl who have broad shoulders due to its cap sleeves, and, again, it's fitted on top and has a flared skirt.
7 - If your hips are large, wear a pair of jeans similar. They are high-waisted and hug your hips beautifully without making them look larger.

Do you have this problem? If so, how do you solve it?
Hope it helps!
-

Sexy And Comfortable - Red Lipstick

Is there anything more seductive than red lips? I don't think so. Red lipstick is as beautiful as tricky. It's really eye-catching and you may feel a little bit uncomfortable, it's not easy to apply, it's not easy to remove, and it's not easy to match with you eye and face makeup.
Let's see how to make it both sexy and wearable.
1. Find out which shade suits your skin undertone best, is your skin undertone pink, yellow or neutral? This is what I did to discover mine. Pick two lipsticks, a red one and, a fuschia one. If the red one suits you, probably your skin has a yellow undertone. In this case warm shades will suits you best. If the fuschia one suits you, probably your skin has a pink undertone, like mine. In this case cold shades will suits you best. Choose red lipsticks with a touch of fuschia like burgundy ones. If both lipsticks suits you, probably your skin undertone is neautral. You are so lucky, you can where any red lipstick you like!
2. Did you buy the wrong shade? No problem! Apply your lipstick as a stain. Use a clean finger to blend.
3. Do you think red lipstick is too heavy on you? Try a red lipgloss! This is also useful if haven't found the perfect shade yet. Red lipgloss allows you to wear something red on your lips without feeling like clowns, it's easier to apply and to remove, and you can try different textures before moving on to the lipstick.
4. There are loads of different textures out there, lipsticks in general can be sheer, very pigmented, glossy, mat, shimmer, and so on. Find out the best one for you. If your lips are really dry like mine, make sure they are well-moisturized before applying mat lipsticks.
5. Don't forget to apply bronzer and blush, if you are fair-skinned red lipstick can make you look washed out, so don't forget to warm up your face with bronzer and blush, and don't wear fuschia blush, opt for pink one.
6. The eye makeup should be as simple as possible, some women look amazing with just a couple of coats of mascara and red lips, if you don't, don't put too much makeup on your eyes. I would suggest to wear a subtle brown smoky eye or a line of eyeliner.
Do you wear red lipstick? How do you wear it? Which one is your favourite?
Hope this post helps! Let me know if you try these tips!
